March 18th 2012.  This article is one of a serious of articles on how to get your Blog indexed quickly on the Search Engines.  You can see the first article of the series here.  You will see from the original article that I am researching how to get your blog indexed so quickly on the search engines.  There are many theories on the forums on how blogs get indexed so quickly such as:- 1. Ping-o-matic pinging service, 2. Google likes blogs, 3. the sitemap generator.

I have deliberately not put a link on Barrowvale.ie to the blog because I don’t want Google to find it this way.  I want to see how quickly will ping-o-matic update the blog lists and then be picked up by Google.  It is almost 24 hours since I changed the privacy settings on the blog to allow the WordPress Update service to ping ping-o-matic when I published yesterday’s blog.  I checked this morning and Google has still not indexed the blog.  Then I decided to check each of the sites that ping-o-matic is supposed to notify using the search phrase: barrowvale.ie site:[site name here].  E.g. barrowvale.ie site:BlogSearch.Google.com

I found no results on any of these sites.  Here is a list of them below:-

Weblogs.com, Blo.gs, FeedBurner.com, NewsGator.com, My.Yahoo.com, PubSub.com, Blogdigger.com, Weblogalot.com, NewsIsFree.com, TopicExchange.com, BlogSearch.Google.com, Spinn3r.com, PostRank.com, SkyGrid.com, Collecta.com, Superfeedr.com

I then did a search on all of these sites for another blog that we do which is the Tradesmen.ie blog. This blog has been in operation for nearly two years and Google usually indexes the blog posts on it within a few minutes.  That blog uses ping-o-matic as well.  To my astonishment the keyword tradesmen.ie was no found on any of these sites!!  The keyword ‘tradesmen’ was found on 4 of the sites as follows:- NewsIsFree.com, PostRank.com, FeedBurner.com, PubSub.com.  That would suggest that of all of the sites listed that these 4 are the only ones that will get you listed in Google for a search for a keyword on your blog if they actually manage to list your blog at all.

Now I am really puzzled.  I also noticed that ping-o-matic nolonger has technorati listed as one of the sites that it updates.  I have now added technorati in addition to ping-o-matic as one of the site update services that it will notifiy when I publish a blog.

I will measure the results in the next few days and next week I will 1. possibly to add more site update services along with the two listed above and/or 2. to add a link to the blog on the barrowvale site so that it will be indexed by Google.
